Darrell Wesh represented the 2016 Haitian Olympic team in the Men’s 100m track and field event.

The former Virginia Tech sprinter ran in Heat 3 of the first round of qualifications.

Wesh completed the heat in 10.39 seconds. He finished the race in last place out of eight sprinters.

Only the first two sprinters to finish first in each heat earned an automatic bid to compete in the semi-final rounds.

The 24 year old was eliminated by runners from both China & Jamaica, who clenched first and second place.

Wesh ranked 54th overall in the final standings.

Jeffrey Julmis – Men’s 110m Hurdles

Jeffrey Julmis participated in the Men’s 110m hurdles track and field event.

He completed his first round heat with a qualifying time of 13.66 seconds.

The Ft. Lauderdale native made quite the headlines after he took an unexpected fall on the first hurdle of the semi-final rounds.

He appeared to be visibly shaken up after the collision.

In a show of determination, Julmis got back up on his feet and completed the race.

The former Kansas State sprinter was met with cheers from the crowd as he crossed the finish line.

Unfortunately, the 29 year old Olympian did not make the qualifying time required to compete in the final round.

Mulern Jean – Women’s 110m Hurdles

Mulern Jean competed in the Women’s 110m hurdles track and field event.

The star Florida State University hurdler ran in Heat 1 of the first round of qualifications.

Jean was disqualified from the event after a referee ruled that she had deliberately knocked down a hurdle.

As a direct violation to IAAF rule 168.7(b), she was not able to continue on in the competition.

Boxing

Richardson Hitchins – Men’s Light Welter 64 kg

Richardson Hitchins represented the Haitian Olympic team in the Men’s Light Welter 64 kg boxing event.

The Brooklyn native competed against Gary Antuanne Russell.

Hitchins was defeated by his American opponent, ending the hunt for an Olympic medal.

The official score for the bout was 3–0.

At only 18 years old, the young boxer still has a lot of room to grow and develop his skills.

Judo

Josue Deprez – Men’s 73 kg

Josue Deprez participated in the Men’s 73 kg Judo competition.

Deprez fought against Germany’s Igor Wandtke.

The 34 year old judoka was subsequently eliminated from the match after performing a prohibited maneuver during the match.

He received a penalty for an “illegal joint lock”.

In addition to being an experienced athlete, Josue Deprez is also a fitness coach in Miami, FL.

Weightlifting

Edouard Joseph – Men’s 62 kg

Edouard Joseph participated in Group B of the Men’s 62 kg Weightlifting event.

Joseph did not successfully complete the event requirements and was disqualified as a result.

Prior to qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Joseph represented Haiti in the 2015 Pan American Games.
