How to greet someone in Haitian Creole?

  • Hello in creole – alo
  • how do you say hello in french – Bonjour
  • I or I’m – mwen
  • Hi – hi (same in both languages)
  • Good morning in creole – Bonjou
  • Good afternoon – bon apremidi
  • Goodnight – bòn nwi / bonsoir 
  • Goodnight in french – Bonne nuit!
  • How are you? – Koman ou ye? or ki jan ou ye?
  • What’s your name? – kijan ou rele?
  • What’s up? – Sak pase?
  • How to respond to sak pase? – most common way to respond is by saying “n’ap boule” / which basically means “I’m doing good”
  • Welcome – byenveni

  • How old are you? – ki laj ou?
  • What are you doing? – Kisa w’ap fè? / Sa w’ap fè la?
  • I miss you in creole – mwen sonje ou
  • I like you a lot – mwen renmen ou anpil
  • Thank you in Haitian creole – mèsi
  • You’re welcome in french – de rien
  • Happy birthday – bon fet /Bonne fête (French) 
  • Happy Anniversary – Bon Anniversaire (french)

  • I love you – Mwen renmen ou. – Another way to say it is “je t’aime“, which means I love you in French.
  • My love – cherie amour
  • whoever is not happy – sak pa kontan
  • Your welcome – de rien (french)
  • I’m frustrated – mwen fristre
