The Director General of the Haitian National Police, Michel-Ange Gedeon issued a strong message to warn the public against violence on the eve of major PetroCaribe protests scheduled for October 17, 2018.

In a video posted on his official Twitter page, The DG of Police Nationale d’Haiti firmly stated the responsibility of his institution to both serve and protect all life and property.

He also reassured the public of their constitutional right to protest without causing harm to other individuals or property.

The Director General warned that anyone who engaged in any acts of violence would not be met with police officers who just simply have their hands crossed.

He informed the general public that anyone who so chooses to engage in any acts of violence could be in serious trouble with the Haitian National Police.

The Director General also ensured those in the tourism sector, hotel owners, restaurant owners, private enterprises, store owners, and all individuals that the Haitian National Police will make every effort to guarantee peace, security, and stability throughout the country – today, tomorrow and in the days to come.

He again warned that the Haitian National Police would not stand with their hands crossed in the face of violence. VIDEO
