During a nationally televised press conference, Haiti’s Acting Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph, confirmed that President Jovenel Moise had indeed been assassinated in the early morning hours today at his private residence in Petion-Ville.
The attack was purportedly carried out by an unidentified and heavily armed group of assailants.
The President’s wife, First Lady Martine Moïse, who was also with the President at the time of the attack was also reportedly wounded.
The First Lady was airlifted out of the country this afternoon and is currently receiving emergency medical treatment in the United States.
At last check, she is reportedly in stable condition.
