Breaking News in Haiti Today – December 17, 2019

Varreux Terminal Power Plant

  • President Jovenel Moise visited the Varreux terminal power plant. In a tweet, he urged the Haitian public to be patient as his government works to distribute electrical energy across the country.
  • President Jovenel Moise, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Transport, Communications and Energy (MTPTC), presented heavy construction equipment which included two asphalt factories and a concrete mixing plant. The heavy construction equipment will be installed in the departments of Grand’Anse, Centre and Artibonite.

Cité Soleil, Solino & Ravine St-Georges

  • The Haitian government has launched operation “pote kole”. The initiative is aimed at fighting unsanitary conditions by cleaning the canals in underprivileged areas such as Cité Soleil, Solino & Ravine St-Georges.
