In a tweet to JetBlue Airways on March 14, 2023, Haitian Journalist & Media Personality Carel Pedre voiced his growing concern about the lack of Haitian Creole translations by airline staff on some of his recent flights to & from Haiti.

As a JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic frequent traveler, Mr. Pedre is uniquely positioned to have made the observation.

Regarding his recent onboard experience with JetBlue flights, Mr. Pedre further stated that the lack of Haitian Creole translations by airline staff had posed a “significant challenge for non-English speaking travelers and shows a lack of consideration for my community.

He urged the New York City based airline to fix the issue as soon as possible.

No less than a few hours after Mr. Pedre’s initial tweet, JetBlue’s official Twitter account replied to the tweet. The response read, “We love our PAP crew. We’ve passed this request along and appreciate the feedback. Thank you!

The next day, Mr. Pedre responded to JetBlue’s reply by thanking the airline for taking the concerns seriously.

Mr. Pedre concluded his response by stating: “We value the connection between the Haitian community & JetBlue, and hope to see Creole translations back on your flights soon to better serve all travelers.
